THE city of Chiba has a new hero, but this is a hero with a difference - his mission is simply to make the people of the city happy.
For the past three years, "Chibatman" has been spotted flying through the streets of Chiba on his custom-built, three-wheeled "Chibatpod", which looks like it was inspired by the movies The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
Like his comic-book counterpart, this masked crusader has the world buzzing - in Japan, he has set social media alight after videos and photos of him went viral online.
Like Batman, the reason he keeps putting on his cape is honourable too: He just wants to bring smiles back to the Japanese people, after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Another astonishing thing about Chibatman is that his real identity remains a secret, despite all the media attention. All that is known about him is that he is 41 years old and works as a welder in the day.
